AFA of PA ACTION ALERT

October 9, 2005

Two Items:

1.)    Pray for Michael Marcavage and other members of Repent America

2.)    Are you registered to vote?

1.)  Sunday, October 9 is Philadelphia’s annual Outfest – a homosexual event which commemorates National Coming Out Day which is on Tuesday, October 11th.  This day gives individuals who are questioning their sexuality a forum in which to ‘come out’ or announce to their family, friends and co-workers that they are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.  Children as young as ten are now ‘coming out’ as homosexual.

This is the event that Michael Marcavage and ten other Christians were arrested at last October.  They were charged with a hate crime using the hate crimes law that was passed in November 2002 and signed into law by Governor Mark Schweiker.  This new law added “actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity.”  Transcripts from the debate on the floor of the State House says this law only dealt with violence and blood on the streets, neither was present last October yet these eleven Christians were charged with a hate crime.  During one of the preliminary hearings in December the Philadelphia prosecutor called the Bible hate speech!  The Philadelphia Eleven faced 47 years in prison and $90,000 in fines for singing hymns, reading from Scripture and carrying signs with Scripture verses on them.  In March the charges were finally dropped after the judge viewed a video that had been made documenting Repent America’s actions.

Well, Michael Marcavage and other Repent America members plan on being there on Sunday, October 9th.  When I spoke to Michael on Thursday he said the organizer of the event, Philly Pride Presents, plans on having the militant homosexual group Pink Angels there once again. This was the group that surrounded Repent America members last year with 10-foot high Styrofoam planks and blew whistles whenever they tried to speak.  None of the ‘angels’ were charged with anything!  In addition another militant group, Anti-Racist Action, will be there to antagonize Repent America members.

Please remember Michael Marcavage and the others who will be participating in bringing the Gospel to the homosexuals attending Outfest on Sunday, October 9th.   Pray for their safety and wisdom in knowing what action to take if the situation gets out of hand.

2.)  If you want to cast your vote in this November’s election then you must be registered to vote.  The final day to register is Tuesday, October 11th.  These off-year elections are just as important, especially on the local level, as any presidential election.  Click here to register.  Click on “Voter Registration” button on the left sidebar or “Voter Registration Application” on the right.

ACTION NEEDED:

1.)Pray for Michael Marcavage and others who will be sharing the Gospel at Outfest in Philadelphia on Sunday, October 9th.

2.) If you are not registered to vote, please register before October 11th  so you can participate in this November’s election.

3.) Sign our online petition to Protect Traditional Marriage and encourage our legislators to allow Pennsylvanians to vote on a marriage amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman.  Click to Download Petition.  You will need the free Adobe Reader to access the petition.
