AFA of PA ACTION ALERT
Petition Opposing Hate Crimes – Sign-Online by MAY 11th!
As you all know on Thursday the U.S. House passed H.R. 1592 – the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007 -- by a vote of 237 to 180. Click here to see how your Congressman voted.
The hate crimes bill now goes to the U.S. Senate. Both Senator Arlen Specter and Senator Bob Casey, Jr. have signed on as co-sponsors to the Senate version of the bill – S 1105. They need to hear from concerned Pennsylvanians asking them to vote ‘No’ on S 1105!
Click here for reasons we oppose such legislation.
On our website we have a petition to Senators Specter and Casey asking them to vote “No” on the hate crimes bill. We are also asking President Bush to veto the bill, if it reaches his desk. The AFA of PA has also put a petition up on our website – but you only have a couple days to gather names as we need it back by MAY 11th.
We are not sure just when the Senate will vote, but it will be very soon. There’s a quick turn around on this petition because of that uncertainty.
