AFA of PA ACTION ALERT

June 18, 2007

NOTE:  This is a little lengthy, while numbers 2 and 3 can be acted upon in the next couple days, it is of utmost importance that you act on number 1 on Monday!

1.)    H.B. 288 – “Emergency Contraceptives” required in PA Hospitals?

2.)    Homosexual Activists Do Not Like President Bush’s Nominee for Surgeon General

3.)    City Council Rescinds Resolution Proclaiming Philadelphia a Pro-Choice City – Does That Make Them Pro-Life?  Citizen outraged caused their reversal --- what about the Boy Scouts?

1.)    On June 6 H.B. 288 was re-committed to the House Rules Committee.  This bill would require hospitals and other emergency facilities to ‘promptly’ provide victims of sexual assault with information about “emergency contraceptives” including Plan B.  Hospitals are also to readily supply the regimen of emergency contraceptives.  One thing this bill does not require is for the hospital to report the sexual assault.  Other violent crimes must be reported to law enforcement.

The bill also says a non-profit chosen by the Department of Health will develop and provide the ‘medically and factually accurate” information. It also says that the non-profit shall be “the prime grantee that arranges for the provision of services to sexual violence and rape victims.”   I wonder which non-profit the Department of Health will choose?  Planned Parenthood??

2.)    President Bush has nominated Dr. Alan Holsinger, Jr. to be the nation’s next Surgeon General . . . homosexual activists are not pleased!  On January 14, 1991 Dr. Holsinger wrote a paper entitled “Pathophysiology of Male Homosexuality.”   It was prepared for the Committee to Study Homosexuality of the United Methodist Church of which he was a member.   Click here to read the report . . . but be forewarned, it’s pretty gross.  Apparently homosexual activists are afraid that the truth about the dangers of their lifestyle will get out if Dr. Holsinger is confirmed for this position.    It would destroy their assertion that this quest for ‘rights’ is a civil rights issue.   Will an eight page report written 16 years ago derail his nomination?

ACTION NEEDED:

1.)  Contact your State House member and ask him or her to vote against H.B. 288.  Click here to find your member.  You can enter your county or nine-digit zip code in the upper right hand corner.

2.)  Contact Senators Specter and Casey and ask them to give Dr. Holsinger fair consideration as the nominee for Surgeon General.   Click here for Senator Casey’s contact information.  Senator Specter’s can be found here.  Also, contact President Bush and encourage him to stand by Dr. Holsinger’s nomination and not to be swayed by the distortions and lies of homosexual activists.  Call 202-456-1111 or -1414;  or e-mail: comments@whitehouse.gov    or www.whitehouse.gov/contact

3.)  Contact Mayor John Street’s Chief of Staff Joyce Wilkerson and express concern that the City is evicting the Boy Scouts.  Call (215) 686-7508.  Click here to read a news release issued earlier.
