Freedom of -or from- Religion will engage one of the most pressing topics in the USA today, the so-called wall of separation between church and state. The First Amendment guarantee of freedom of religion has a long history of interpretation, with implications and consequences ranging far and wide: school prayer; religious displays near, on, or in government buildings; the rights of religious minorities and dissenters; government funding for private schools; the formulation of public policy; jurisprudence; and the role of religion in a pluralistic society.

These provocative issues and more will be addressed by four major experts who have published extensively and whose voices are deemed influential.

The symposium is free and open to the public. For more information or to register, please call 412-396-6388, e-mail faithandpolitics@duq.edu or register online.

Thursday, Sept. 20th
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
