AFA of PA ACTION ALERT

October 15, 2007

1.)    Board of Governors Agree on Faculty Contract - -not good news!

2.)    Beware of this movie and book

3.)    Bulletin Insert with information on H.B. 1400 and S.B. 761

1.)    On October 11th the Board of Governors of the PA State System of Higher Education voted to give domestic partner benefits to the same-sex partners of homosexual faculty members.  Only two Representatives of the five elected officials who are on the Board voted against it.  Those were Representative Matthew Baker and Representative Mike Hanna.   Click here to read the news release issued on Friday.

2.)    The movie “For The Bible Tells Me So” opened in a limited number of theatres on October 5th.  This gives you an idea where it is coming from:  “Through the experiences of five very normal, very Christian, very American families -- including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopalian Bishop Gene Robinson . . .”  Additionally, a new book  by Dr. Jack Rogers, Professor of Theology Emeritus at San Francisco Theological Seminary,  Jesus, the Bible and Homosexuality: Explode the Myths, Heal the Church, makes a ‘case for equal rights for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.’  For seventeen years prior to moving to California, he was Professor of Philosophical Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary.  These are but two examples of how homosexual activists are targeting the church’s teaching on sin – specifically the sin of engaging in homosexual acts.  Within the last couple years an organized effort has begun to ‘convert’ the church, as it is the only obstacle standing in the way of total acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle.  How is the church’s Biblical literacy on the topic of sin?

ACTION NEEDED:

1.)  Please contact Representatives Matt Baker (R-68) and Mike Hanna (D-76) and tell them ‘thanks’ for taking a stand for marriage and the family in their ‘no’ vote on the PA State System of Higher Education faculty contract.  Click here for Representative Baker’s contact info and here for Representative Hanna’s.

2.)  Please consider warning those you know of the movie “For the Bible Tells Me So” and the book  Jesus, the Bible and Homosexuality: Explode the Myths, Heal the Church.

3.)  The AFA of PA has created a bulletin insert dealing with H.B. 1400 and S.B. 761 which would add ‘sexual orientation and gender identity or expression’ to the PA Human Relations Act.  Please consider asking your church to include this in your bulletin on October 21st  because this will directly affect churches, Christian schools and daycares.  Click here.  You will need Adobe Reader – click here for free download.

4.)  Don’t forget you can now listen to Diane Gramley’s weekly radio program ‘American Family Focus on PA Issues’ on our website.  Click here

5.)  Feel free to forward this alert to other concerned Pennsylvanians.  If this alert is being forwarded to you by a friend, please feel free to sign up by clicking here.   Please indicate in which county you live.

6.)  Please consider supporting the ongoing work of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania.  Make an online donation.
