Please Vote Tuesday November 6th for Jackie Shogan for Pennsylvania Superior Court

From: herb138@fyi.net [mailto:herb138@fyi.net]

Friends,

On November 6th, Pennsylvania voters will elect three new members of the
Superior Court for ten year terms. The impact of Pennsylvania's Superior
Court is tremendous, in areas ranging from the safety of our streets to the
legal climate in which businesses and professionals operate in Pennsylvania.

It is vital that we elect judges of the highest integrity who will base
their decisions on the faithful and impartial application of the law.

Jackie Shogan is the kind of candidate we all wish there were more of: a
person whose background is ideally suited for the position she is seeking
and a person of profound idealism and rock-solid integrity. As a mother,
nurse, educator and attorney, Jackie's excellent legal credentials and her
real life experience outside of the courtroom are exactly what we need on
our appellate bench.

Jackie is a high honors graduate of Duke Law School and a litigator and
health law attorney at one of Pittsburgh's most distinguished law firms. She
has almost two decades of experience in both civil and criminal law, clerked
for a federal judge, serves as an arbitrator and mediator to help resolve
disputes outside the courtroom, and teaches a course in appellate practice
at the University of Pittsburgh Law School.

The Shogan Household: Jackie, her husband Jeff who is a cancer specialist,
their three children, Jackie's mother, Jeff's father and their dog Murphy.

She has a long record of service to her community and a breadth of
experience that comes in part from the fact that the law is a second career
for her. Jackie received her BS in Nursing, summa cum laude, from Temple
University and her MS in Nursing from the University of Virginia, graduating
at the top of her class. She worked in trauma units in inner city hospitals
and taught nursing for over a decade prior to putting herself back through
law school. She has seen first hand the effects of crime on some of the most
vulnerable members of our society.

Because of Jackie's unique background and excellent legal credentials, she
has the backing of Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett and law
enforcement across the state. Jackie has also been endorsed or recommended
by the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Allegheny County Bar Association,
the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the Pennsylvania State Nurses
Association, Business and Professional Women/PA, and numerous other groups
dedicated to electing well qualified jurists who faithfully and impartially
apply the law.

Growing up in Western Pennsylvania, Jackie's father, who served in the Navy
for almost thirty years, taught her the value of service and integrity.
These are lessons that she has carried throughout her life and will bring to
the bench. She is currently the President-Elect of Neighborhood Legal
Services and volunteers her time providing free legal services to those in
need. As stated by the Pennsylvania Bar Association, she is known "for her
intelligence, diligence, work ethic and pro bono activities," as well as her
"devotion to public service and personal integrity."

Especially at this critical time, we need to elect a Superior Court Judge
who will uphold the integrity of the judiciary and bring a unique, real
world perspective to the Superior Court. When you go to the polls on
Tuesday, November 6th, the candidates for Superior Court will appear
alphabetically by party. If you want to help Jackie, go to the end of the
list to cast your vote for her. In other words, vote "Bottom Up" for Jackie
Shogan. Encourage your friends and family to do the same. Your vote can make
a difference.

P.S. Please forward this email to your family and friends and remind them to
vote for Jackie Shogan on November 6th.
