AFA of PA ACTION ALERT

October 14, 2005

Pornography Awareness Week Resources

FYI – If you haven’t seen the gay historic marker that was unveiled near Independence Hall on July 1, we now have it posted on our website.  Click here to view the picture.  If this use of your tax dollars to promote the homosexual lifestyle concerns you, please contact Barbara Franco, the executive director of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission at 717. 787-3362.

The AFA of PA has compiled resources and suggestions that can be used during Pornography Awareness Week (PAW), October 30-November 6, 2005.  We encourage you to become better educated on the issue and to help educate your community on the dangers of pornography and the harm it does.

Follow this link for the resources.

During PAW we encourage you to investigate the availability of pornography in your community.  A handy guide is this Survey.

Also, please be aware that we may be calling for a boycott of Sheetz and Turkey Hill convenience stores in the near future.  Each corporation allows local stores to make ‘soft core pornography’ such as Playboy, Playgirl and Hustler available.

ACTION NEEDED:

1.)  Please become involved in Pornography Awareness Week at whatever level you feel comfortable.  Although, pornography is not a ‘comfortable’ issue for anyone!  But this cancer upon our society must be addressed by those who are willing to uphold the Biblical ethic of decency.

2.)  If you live in Lawrence County or a nearby county consider attending the Lawrence County Motorcade for Decency/White Ribbon Campaign, Saturday October 22, 2005, at 3:00 P.M.  The Motorcade will assemble at Victory Christian Center, Coitsville,  Ohio and travel past Adult Land XXX, and turn around at St James Parish, New Bedford, Pa. Immediately following the Motorcade an inspirational Rally will take place at Barnstone Ministries.  Sponsored by the Coalition Against Pornography in Pulaski Township.   For more information contact: Fern Heckert at 724-964-8293.

I have attended this event the past couple years and I highly recommend going.  They, as well as others across the state, are working to send a clear message to elected officials and local sexually oriented businesses that this is an important issue to them.

3.) Sign our online petition to Protect Traditional Marriage and encourage our legislators to allow Pennsylvanians to vote on a marriage amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman.  Click to Download Petition.  You will need the free Adobe Reader to access the petition.

4.)  Feel free to forward this alert to other concerned Pennsylvanians.  If this alert is being forwarded to you by a friend, please feel free to sign up by sending an e-mail to info@afaofpa.org

5.)  Please consider supporting the ongoing work of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania.  Make an online donation.
