According to Dr. Victor Cline in Pornography's Effects on Adults and Children there is a 'near universal four-factor syndrome' among users of pornography:
1.) addiction effect -- they get hooked
2.) escalation effect -- with the passage of time the users required more explicit, rougher, more deviant kinds of sexual material to get their 'high.'
3.) desensitization to material that previously shocked
4.) increased tendency to 'act out sexually.'

(AgapePress) - The possession of child pornography by child molesters is becoming a common phenomenon, according to a study released by the New Hampshire Crimes Against Children Research Center.
After interviewing police investigators regarding a possible link between possessing child pornography and acting on it, researchers found 40 percent of porn users to be molesters. Once again, this trend of perversion is connected to the Internet.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
1.) Click here for a bulletin insert that can be used during Pornography Awareness Week – October 30-November 6, 2005. Ask your pastor about including it in one of those Sunday bulletins.
2.) Consider approaching your local elected officials about issuing a Pornography Awareness Week Proclamation. Click here for the language of two model proclamations:
3.) Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper to educate the community on the dangers of pornography.

6.) Conduct a survey of your community. Use this handy survey as a guide as you check for the prevalence of pornography near you.

Movie Gallery just bought out Hollywood Video and aggressively buys out smaller chains. Did you know that Movie Gallery is the largest video store chain to offer hardcore pornographic videos? If you see a Movie Gallery moving into your neighborhood, it is time to sound the alarm. The brochure “Somewhere in America” will help in the fight against Movie Gallery.
The need to check out and monitor your local video store is a must. Even nice sounding stores such as “Family Video” may rent hardcore pornographic videos. Check it out and if you find a backroom that makes these type videos available, voice your concerns to the management and urge him to remove the offensive material. If the material remains, take your business elsewhere. Let the management know why your will no longer be a customer there and make sure you tell your family and friends and encourage them to do the same. Ask your local law enforcement officer to investigate the possible obscene material that may be in those backrooms. Click here to read the PA State Obscenity Law.
9.) Is there a Sheetz or Turkey Hill convenience store near you? Do they sell pornographic magazines such as Playboy, Playgirl or Hustler? Sheetz corporate office has made it quite clear that they believe they are providing a much needed ‘customer service’ by making these magazines available. In many cases, the only thing that will send a clear message to these corporations is a drop in their profit line. And the only way that will happen is if those concerned about the detrimental impact exposure to pornography will have on their family takes their buying power elsewhere. A Sheetz or Turkey Hill store may be closer and more convenient, but do you want your dollars to support a corporation that offers material that could destroy your family?
10.) XXX Church – Number One Christian Porn Site! (Don’t worry your internet filter will not block this site!)

11.) File a Complaint With the FCC by going to their website.
12.) If there are porn outlets in your town, why not consider having a Motorcade for Decency or White Ribbon Campaign.
