The Presidential Primary process has become extremely front loaded as state after state has moved its primary to February 5th, tsunami Tuesday, as it is now called. A consortium of partisan, bipartisan, and non-partisan have initiated the first ever National Presidential Caucus. The goal is to facilitate thousands of local, self organized, web enabled, and face to face gatherings across the country. The National Caucus will commence with meetings nation wide on December 7, 2007.
In the 2004 election cycle more than 5 million citizens organized thousands of "meet ups" via the Web, and the premise of the National Caucus is to build on this phenomenon.
The National Caucus hopes to change the way Americans choose the president. Until recently, the Presidential race has been a one way conversation characterized by 30 second negative ads and sound bytes designed for the nightly news. The National Caucus will attempt to continue a two way conversation between citizen and candidate, which the Internet has made possible.
