AFA of PA ACTION ALERT

July 16, 2007

Thank Senator Mike Folmer and Senator John Eichelberger for Voting ‘NO’ on the 2008 State Budget

Today Pennsylvania’s Senate voted 46-2 to approve Governor Rendell’s $27.2 billion budget – a 4.0% increase in spending.  The State House is expected to approve it later tonight.

The budget has major new spending for public schools and social services.  New money is in the budget for Pre-K Counts, for laptop computers to high school students, for day care for children in low-income families and to expand home and community services to the elderly and disabled people.

Both Senator Folmer (R-Lebanon) and Senator Eichelberger (R-Blair) had a campaign pledge to keep spending at the rate of inflation or below.  This budget obviously did not do that and thus they were ‘No” votes on the 2008 budget.

It’s not very often that you see politicians keeping a campaign pledge.  Please contact these two Senators and tell them ‘thank you.’

Please remember our elected officials in prayer.
