Day 11: We're making progress!

This morning, Margaret, Claire, Patrick and I prayed
with the faithful 40 Days for Life volunteers in
Providence, Rhode Island, and now we're heading to
Boston, Massachusetts, where tomorrow I will be
speaking to an expected crowd of 3,000 pro-lifers on
the Boston Common.

(If you're anywhere near Boston, I'd love to see you
there! Get info at: http://snipurl.com/1ruj8 )

40 Days for Life is now more than a quarter of the way
through to completion, and God continues to bring about
miracles as His people pray, fast, and act.

Messages like this keep rolling in from across America:

"Just to let you know that another baby was saved
yesterday!! Glory to God! We are getting calls from
towns as far away as 5-6 hours that are planning
to come and pray. A man drove by and thanked us for
standing and praying for life. Not only is the
secular radio announcing our needed hours daily but
the Christian radio is starting to do the same! We
have been invited for a weekly interview on the
secular radio station so this topic can remain in the
forefront of people's minds. Young people are coming
back to pray at the abortion facility time and time
again. Many people are not even signing up but
instead are just showing up because they want to
help. The unification of all faiths and pro-life
people has been amazing! God is truly fast at work!"

With so many positive results, the abortion industry is
starting to get worried.

Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in
America -- that terminates more than 264,000 babies a
year -- has the most to lose as abortion numbers
continue to decline due to prayer, fasting, and
peaceful 40 Days for Life activities.

Rather than just accept the "choice" of people who
courageously oppose their deadly business, Planned
Parenthood has started fighting back.

The organization started by distributing a canned press
release about 40 Days for Life that their local offices
around the country have used after cutting and pasting
their local CEO's name into the blanks.

See a few examples:

The press release falsely insinuates that 40 Days for
Life participants are threatening, harassing, and
potentially violent people, even though this effort has
been 100% peaceful and prayerful.

Then the abortion business began promoting its "Pledge
a Protester" campaign in facilities around the country.

Now many Planned Parenthood offices are scheduling
"counter demonstrations" against 40 Days for Life, in
what appears to be a desperate attempt to rally support
for their abortion business.

I got a call late last night from one local 40 Days for
Life leader who said that in the last 15 years, Planned
Parenthood has NEVER held a counter protest against
pro-life efforts in their area, but now the abortion
group is scrambling to put on a protest against the 40
Days for Life efforts in just two days.

Gandhi once said about standing up against injustice:
"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then
they fight you, then you win."

With Planned Parenthood fighting back against 40 Days
for Life efforts all across America, it's clear that
our prayers are having a powerful effect, and that God
is moving us closer to victory!

Here's today's devotional...

40 DAYS FOR LIFE: DAY 11, OCTOBER 6
Daily Devotional by: Carmen Pate
*******************************************************

INTENTION:

Pray for opportunities to share with an abortion-minded
woman that the newness of life she is seeking is found
only in Christ.

SCRIPTURE:

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new
creation; old things have passed away; behold all
things have become new." -- 2 Corinthians 5:17

REFLECTION:

An unexpected pregnancy is perceived by many young
women as the end of their life as they know it.

For the teen, she has perhaps planned for college,
scouted out career choices and dreamed of marriage
someday, but she is not prepared to be thrust into
motherhood and is devastated.

The young career woman may be focused on climbing the
corporate ladder, knocking out glass ceilings, and
delaying marriage till she is secure in her executive
position. News of an unexpected pregnancy pulls the rug
from under her well laid plans.

Sadly, these women may choose abortion as a matter of
self-preservation, believing that an abortion will help
return their life to normal and give them opportunity
to start life anew.

They don't see abortion as killing a child, but rather
as saving their own life. Of course, abortion will not
bring the newness of life they are seeking, but instead
will bring death to their child, lifelong regret, and
unexpected -- possibly devastating -- consequences to
their own life.

But abortion will be the choice made if we don't meet
them at the crossroad between life and death with a
better way.

Almost without exception, these young women are looking
for love, acceptance, and to be valued. In their
efforts to have those needs met, they have become
promiscuous. Most, if honest, will admit the needs were
only met momentarily, if at all, during their brief
encounter, and afterward the needs returned unmet.

The truth is, only Christ loves them unconditionally
with an everlasting love. Only Christ will accept them
as they are, and only Christ sees them for their true
value in Him.

In addition, He has a perfect plan for each woman and
her child if only she will allow Christ to transform
her life as she surrenders to Him. No, an unexpected
pregnancy is not the end of life, but rather can be the
beginning of two beautiful lives if God's plan for them
is given opportunity to unfold.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank you for making all things new
for those who trust in You alone.

You give us a new song, a new purpose, a new direction,
a new perspective. You remind us that the thief comes
to steal, kill, and destroy, but Christ came that we
might have life, and have it more abundantly.

Give us boldness to share this Good News with those who
are at the crossroads and may they choose life for
their children and enjoy newness of life in You.

Because of Christ we pray, AMEN.
