It's hard to believe, but thousands of children are sold for sex throughout the United States - perhaps even in your own city or town. What can you do to help stop child prostitution?
Rescuing Children from Prostitution — Linda Smith
You may be aware that minors are trafficked and sold for sex in many countries around the world, but did you know it is happening right here in the United States, too? At least 100,000 children, and possibly as many as 300,000, are being exploited by America's commercial sex industry. Kids are used in the creation of pornography, as prostitutes and as performers in strip clubs. Today's program is powerful, sobering, and one you need to hear. Listen in as Linda Smith, a former congresswoman and the founder of Shared Hope International, illuminates the scope of the problem, explaining how children are lured and enslaved, and what can be done to stop it.
"The pimp traffickers go where these [vulnerable] kids are - they watch the playground at middle schools, they watch the malls. And if a child looks to be sad [or] upset, they will comfort the child [and] move in where there's a vacuum of a [parental] figure."
- Linda Smith
